What is AV over IP?

AV over IP (audiovisual over the Internet) is the transmission of audio, video signals through a network cable infrastructure (such as WAN, LAN or Internet). Network-based connections make communication between devices easier. NP Lite is the AV Over IP-based platform created by iSEMC, which is composed of encoders, decoders. Compared with the traditional analog AV environment, IP-based AV refers to the use of standard network equipment to switch and transmit video and audio signals.

The development of IP Over AV in the professional AV industry

Due to its High Scalability, we clearly see that traditional analog AV and audio have been quickly replaced by IP-based infrastructure, especially for audio and video systems with higher input and output channels and longer distances. Scalability is not only reflected in the ability to arbitrarily increase the number of input and output, but also in the compatibility with more devices, making it applicable to more industries, such as: digital signage, smart home, finance, etc.

Another limitation of traditional AV is the Distance between input and output. All hard-wired digital transmissions have practical limits on distance. When the wires are distributed throughout the entire facility hundreds of meters, the cost of installation and expansion will be higher. IP-based AV can be easily transmitted through copper cables (categories) and optical fibers. The maximum length of the category (CAT5, CAT6, etc.) cable is 100 meters. But you can switch and repeat sequentially. Using this precise packet-based switching technology, IP-based AV greatly improves flexibility by overcoming the limitations on the number of sources and destinations and overcoming distance limitations. The function of migrating from traditional AV to AV over IP is not affected, because all performance elements remain in the IP-based solution.

Convergence with data and communications, the NP Pro series has good Compatibility. It perfectly combines CVR Server (video storage) or Web Server to create an AV Over IP platform that can call any device data connected to the same network in real time For example, the alarm signal of IPC can be transmitted to the control room in any place through the network, and the control room can also visit the storage server in any place at the same time.
